Built by Sean and Wyatt: Sunday, March 2, 2014
Background
The current incarnation of NosLabs is the latest revision of the tenth NosLabs, which began construction on the NosPack server on March 2, 2014. Every incarnation of the lab prior to this one tended to be small and wasn't really fit for purpose. The tenth NosLabs finally gave us a build that worked, and it has remained our primary incarnation of the lab for all but about a month of the time since its introduction.
Construction
While the construction of this lab has been redone a few times, and new features being added to each revision, the tenth NosLabs was built after the previous facilities failed to live up to our expectations. This lab was designed to take heavy inspiration from YogLabs. It is not a 1:1 carbon copy, nor will it ever be, but it does take many of its design aesthetics and decisions into account. It is by far the largest and most complex structure ever built by Nosiphus.
Features
The feature set of the tenth NosLabs has varied depending on the version of Minecraft currently in use, and the mods available, but in general, the lab has had a pretty long and impressive set of features.
Advanced Launch Bay: While present on both the eighth and ninth NosLabs as well, the tenth NosLabs features the most advanced version of the rocket launch bay. While it's been remodeled a few times, the design introduced in 2018 has stuck through to the present. It includes mission control, processing systems for energy and oxygen, and astronautical preparation rooms designed to simulate the gravity environments of the moon and Mars.
Alarm: In NosPack, an alarm system was briefly added. When activated, loud sirens would blare across the facility. While not present in the Telkit IV lab, with the return of the maximum security system (see below), this may be readded in the near future.
Break Room with Coffee Machine: Added in NosPack, all versions of the tenth NosLabs feature a break room with a functioning coffee machine, as well as an area dedicated for a kitchen staff.
Emergency Exit: Added in Telkit II, a one-way door was added to the facility that acted as an emergency exit. It leads directly to the surface, and cannot be opened from the outside.
Maximum Security: In Telkit II, we added a central security lever. When pulled, this lever force-closes all doors in the facility, which is useful in cases of security breaches. This was extended later on to add sub-area maximum security, such as shutting off the BioScience wing in case of some kind of contamination, but keeping the rest of the lab open.
Medical Laboratories: Introduced in NosPack, and called MedLabs for short, this portion of the lab is for medical operations, research, and recovery. It also houses the physical wellness portion of the facility, and is home to a full, regulation-size ball court and a massive indoor pool.
Ship Construction Area: Originally added in Telkit I as a small test room, it was expanded in Telkit II to a massive underground area. It was designed for the construction of airships and small boats was constructed. It was connected to a giant opening that allowed for users to fly their ships up and straight out of NosLabs.
Ventilation: In NosPack, a ventilation system was added that allowed players, when transformed into a one-block tall mob such as a cat, to travel within and access secret rooms as well as have access to other rooms. Originally only connected to a few inaccessible rooms, it was extended in Telkit IV to go to every room in the facility.
